Q: What is turnKey?
A: turnKey is a web app that allows local governments to increase tax revenues without raising taxes.

Q: How does it work?
A: Our primary focus is data. turnKey houses all of your taxpayer records and cross references each against other external sources of data. This data is often maintained by 3rd party collectors. With turnKey, the control of the data is returned to the local government. This ensures that those in control of the finances and know the exact number of active taxpayers exist in our community.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: turnKey is performance-based. There is a small monthly subscription fee based on the size of the community and the number of records. Besides that, turnKey operates on performance. In other words, if turnKey does not identify, collect and deposit funds into your account, there is no additional cost to the local government.

Q: Is there a software license?
A: No.

Q: How does the information get into turnKey?
A: turnKey will work with any/all tax collectors to import existing taxpayer information. Once the initial set of taxpayers is verified, the transactions can be imported on its normal reporting frequency (i.e. monthly, Quarterly, etc.)

Q: Is it secure?
A: turnKey is encrypted and password protected. Only those who are authorized by the local government will be issued a username and password.

Q: Can the public see it?
A: No. Only those with access can view the taxpayers and transactions.

Q: How effective is the software?
A: Our success rate from initial clients has ranged from 26-250%.

Q: Who uses it?
A: Although the program was developed for the community’s ‘CFO’, end-users range from Council Members to Mayors to Building Inspectors and Code Enforcement professionals.

Q: Why doesn’t everyone use it?
A: Great question. Government is typically slow to embrace change. We’re sure that in a few years, it will become the norm. Its time has come. Better Question, why aren’t you using it?

Q: Whom do you need to talk to in my community?
A: Whoever is responsible for balancing the budget. In some cases, the Mayor is promoting transparency, in others, it’s a collaborative effort through Council and the Finance Department.

Q: What level of technology skill/knowledge does someone need to use the software?
A: The average learning curve for someone with basic computer skills is 15 minutes.

Q: What technology is required to run the software?
A: The only requirement is a computer and Internet access.

Q: What other benefits does the software have outside of its main function?
A: Owning your data presents numerous opportunities. The ability to export taxpayers (by class) means that communities can produce their own mail merge documents. Others are building out their contact lists. Some are content with just knowing how many taxpayers they have in a given period.

Q: What role does turnKey play in the tax collection process?
A: turnKey is designed as a tool that monitors taxpayer counts and transaction dollars. However, if asked, we will perform the collections, accept payments and handle delinquencies. Because the system is transparent, all of the payments received are posted and can be viewed immediately.

Q: Do you offer phone support?
A: Our call center, we believe is the best in the business.

Q: How long does it take to begin collecting revenue?
A: Generally within 3-4 weeks, but in some cases, it’s been within 10 days.
