…plus tax
“….plus tax” – the phrase that follows every purchase. If you google this phase, it
will find a quarter billion entries or so. It’s is so engrained in any
purchase that no one any longer gives it a thought. You should.
The ‘plus tax’ is not a one-time event in the life cycle of an employees’s earnings. If
you work for a company, that company will in nearly all cases pay tax on
their cost of goods. They may pay a business privilege tax and more than
likely federal and state corporate sales taxes. As an employee, you’ll
pay your federal, state and local taxes. All of these taxes are paid
before you even purchase an item where they provide the price and add
‘plus tax’.
So with all of the taxes, why are the debts and deficits at an all time high? At the
federal, state and local level? The fact of the matter is that our
elaborate system of taxes, taxes, taxes does not work. While the intent
may have been admirable, we need something better.
The problem is not Obamacare, healthcare or the many cracks in any of the other
critical sectors. The problem is a need for better communication,
cooperation and a plan that is easily followed. Conversation is free. No
tax required.
