Thank you Veterans!
Today marks the 238th birthday of the Marine Corps. Yes, their birthdate is a year
earlier than the United States. I’ll never forget this date because of a
lifetime mnemonic. My eldest son was born on this date. Coincidently, he is a
Marine. And as they will tell you – bluntly, I may add – a Marine isalways a
Marine.
It’s difficult to evaluate the effectiveness of any line item relating to public
finance. It is especially difficult to place a value on a service like
our military. After all, it comes down to one question – What is Freedom
worth?
To date, our web blogs have targeted taxes, perceived value, technology, fairness and
a number of other factors. What should never be lost is that our
arguments on either side are because we have the choice to argue. We
have the choice to…..well, we have a choice. We are a free people.
We have choices for one reason. Young men and women, who have served in our military,
have made the ultimate statement. There is no ‘cost of freedom’. It
simply can not be calculated.
Tomorrow we will remember the men and women who have served our nation. We will
remember their families. Most importantly, we will remember and always
know that their contribution to our way of life can never be repaid, but
only remembered and appreciated.
When we remember, reflect on this. Veterans Day is one day. Our awareness is
acute during this period. Their awareness, dedication and protection is
‘always’.
Today we have a message to all Veterans. America loves you.
